Lost, Found or Unwanted

Please contact the SPCA first

The SPCA will never refuse to take in an animal, please bring your animal to us before leaving them unattended!

If you find a stray animal please bring it to the SPCA or keep it safely contained in your yard, contact the SPCA and we will come and fetch it.

Stray / Found animals are admitted to the SPCA, recorded in the "Found" register and must be kept at the kennels for a 7 day period. This is to allow the legal owner time to claim their pet back. If the dog or cat is not claimed by the owner, it is then put up for adoption, subject to certain conditions. It is then vaccinated and de-wormed and after another 14 days it is put up for adoption.

If you have lost your pet please phone, or preferably visit the SPCA, as soon as possible to check if it has been brought to the SPCA. Both animal and owner information is recorded in the "Lost" register. It is however the owners responsibility to keep in touch with the SPCA regarding their lost pet. We are situated at 1 Nyati Road, Athlone Park. Hours: Mon - Fri 08h30 - 12h00 and 13h00 to 16h00 and Sat from 08h30 - 11h00. Tel: 0319042424, email: .

Please make sure your pet has some form of ID eg, collar and tag or microchip for easier identification and remember, sterilized pets are less likely to wander away from home and get lost.

Please take note that we hire out cat traps at a nominal fee to capture wild cats. Please contact our offices for further information on this.
